Sep 12 2011im not sure what the max speed rating would be on the belt its self but most beltsanders that i have used are 14001500 ftmin max speed if you bought new belts then they may have a max speed on the package but if not im sure you could contact the co and they could tell you espeacially if they are a high quality belt
As long as the buyer obtains a smaller belt grinder with a highquality work table and platen and a strong enough motor the 1by 42should work fine for knife making tasks such as bevel grinding profiling and most initial knife development steps the 2by 72is the far better choice
